ROAD TO SUPERBOWL

It is finally here folks, the AFC and NFC championship games will be played tomorrow and the winners get to battle for all the marbles next month in NJ.  The anticipation for these heated rivalries has been at a premium.  There has been non-stop media coverage of the four teams leading into tomorrow.  Each game will display the brilliance of football on both ends.  While the AFC championship will be directly correlated on the offensive side, the NFC championship will be a battle of defense.   So whether you’re a fan of high-powered offenses and touchdowns or big time hits, tomorrow you will be glued to your television from 3 o’clock to bout 9 as these games promise to deliver.

Manning vs Brady, Brady vs Manning that is basically all you heard about this week.  The two future hall of fame quarterbacks will play each other for the third time in the AFC championship with advantage Tom.   For Peyton, it’s a chance to beat his nemesis, the opportunity to play in his 3rd Super Bowl and eclipse which has been a remarkable season thus far for the 37-year-old. Manning has basically broke every passing, yardage and touchdown record possible.  However his success or lack there of in the post-season has always been his downfall or stain to his legacy. Not to mention he only has one Super Bowl ring, when baby brother Eli has two . Ironically those two were against Tom Brady.  Brady on the other hand, with a win will play in his 6th Superbowl if the Patriots make it to Met Life.  Brady along with Belichick are a dangerous combination to deal with and their post-season record proves that.  Can you imagine if Brady actually had 5 Superbowl rings? Regardless Brady has proven regardless of who you surround him with, when he is under center you have a legit shot of winning football games.  The Patriots season has been plagued with injuries, yet none of that seems to matter.  The franchise is proof in the theory next man up.  While the team isn’t as high-powered as past championship teams they find ways to get it done through preparation and execution on the field.  I think Peyton finds a way to get it done in Denver and moving one step closer to that trophy.

The NFC title game will highlight two of the best defenses in the league.  The teams will be very intense, physical and passionate as both teams have something to prove.  Unlike the experienced veteran QBs of the AFC championship the NFC game will feature the young and up-coming in Russell Wilson and Kap. For the Niners it is the third straight conference championship and chance to play in consecutive Super Bowls.  They have played on the road this entire playoff and have to do it one more time.  However this time, it’s not going to be easy. Aside from also having a great defense, the Seahawks take full advantage of playing at home.  The 12th man is real and the Hawks are a combined 16-1 in two seasons.  Not to mention they handed the Niners losses the last 4 of 5 games.  In the end I see San Fran completing the road cycle and battling Denver in the Super Bowl.  I think their experience will prevail against the Hawks and I see Kap having a better game then Wilson.

NFL – Week 12

This pic right here is so epic.  It literally is history in the present form, Brady and Manning will play against each other again tonight.  Two future Hall of Famers with records both above .500 will have the stage all to themselves in tonight’s Sunday Night Football game.  Brady has home field advantage and will be looking to get a win after suffering a loss from an emerging Panthers team last week.  The history behind the two is a bit overwhelming in a good way to say the least.  This has been the story all week and most anticipated match-up for week 12.  Aside from the quarterback duo, it is the home return of Wes Welker who spent several season with Patriots and co.  In the end I really like Denver in this game.  I think their defense is a little bit better then New England , and offensively they have more weapons who will get plenty of YAC.  It will be a close game and I wouldn’t be surprised if it ends in a game-winning FG as the quarterbacks bring out the best in each other.

Colts (7-3) at Cardinals (6-4) – The Colts are a tough team to analyze because of they have a combination of great wins and terrible losses.  That just comes with the territory of playing in the NFL. As we all know the Colts move with Andrew Luck, his play really dictates if they will win games or not.  And today he will face a tough defense in the Cardinals ranked 9th.  Now even though Arizona struggles offensively at times, they still do have Fitz who is BIG TIME.  Also, their defense and special teams literally can keep them in games.  I like Indy to get a road victory here and start to make a push of consecutive victories heading into playoffs.

Cowboys ( 5-5) at Giants (4-6) – Is this not the worse/ most interesting conference we have in football?  With a terrible start from basically every team in the conference who knows how this will play out?  The Giants actually started winning games, and the Cowboys are so dysfunctional I don’t know what to expect from them.  So how could I not have this as a GAME OF THE WEEK is the question.  I actually like Big Blue today at home at Met Life Stadium.  This should be a shootout between Romo and Manning, because the two of them both have a reputation for throwing a lot of passes.  And I don’t mean the 5 yard out routes either.  It will be interesting to see how this division looks in a few weeks.

WEEK 11/ FF Help

Week 11 is here and the Martin case still hasn’t been resolved.  It looks like the end result will be him playing football and that I can live with.  I read a post by Matthew Berry last week describing how a lot of people live their life in fear. And its very understandable and a lot of us do it.  It was years ago when I decided not to, so if you happen to be reading this post today I encourage you to rid all your fear.  To stand up against your biggest obstacles, you will be amazed at how your confidence can help you overcome any conflict put in your way.  Now with that said the Giants who I humiliated at the beginning of the season are now on a win streak, go figure.  But this week features some must see games. Lets get to it shall we?!

Kansas City vs Denver – Well the number 1 defense will be playing the number 1 offense.  Does Kansas City remain undefeated?  I don’t think so.  Now granted I am a huge Peyton Manning fan, but I am not just supporting him as a fan.  Let’s be honest here for  a second, the Chiefs haven’t faced a QB of Manning’s level the entire season.  We are talking about a guy who calls multiple audibles at the line after reading the defense.  On top of that they are playing in Denver, I just don’t think the odds are in the Chiefs.  More importantly if they aren’t able to force turnovers and battle for field position, how will they score.  As great as the Broncos are offensively, they really aren’t horrible on defense.  So if Chiefs they can advance the ball at will they are in for a rude awakening.

Patriots at Panthers – The Patriots are starting to look like the Patriots again.  Tom Brady has finally got a healthy receiving core, and the GRONK is back.  They will be playing a Carolina team who is making a statement this year.  They are also on a winning streak and their defense is legit.  I think they find another way to hold off Brady and company in Carolina.  After not having such a great outing last week and the defense basically winning the game, I expect Cam to bounce back and have a Newton type game.

Niners at Saints – Kap has been scrutinized for his play as of late by all the media and analysts.  Poor guy, he will now have to travel to NOLA and square off against Brees.  Talking about a tough situation to be in.  I like the Saints in this situation, Brees is one of the most reliable QBs in today’s game.  I mean is that even debatable, like he is guaranteed at least 3 touchdowns a game rite?  San Fran will have to run the ball in order to be effective.  If they can control tempo they will have  a shot, but a team once known for their great defense I think gets handled by Brees.

FF HELP- WILL YOU BE MAKING PLAYOFFS??!!!

Big Day in Boston

Sunday was a great day in sports for the city of Boston. The Patriots and Red Sox both won their games in dramatic fashion last night uniting the city. The day begin with the undefeated Saints visiting the Patriots. The patriots looked the better team initially taking an early 10 point lead into the half . The defense held its own and you have to give a lot of credit to the secondary ;specifically Talib for shutting down Jimmy Graham the number one option for Brees. The second half was a little different when Nola became more aggressive scoring twenty points which included a late FG to give them a 4 point lead late in the 4th. After two remarkable defensive stops Brady got one last drive and connected with rookie receiver Thompkins which would seal the deal and give Nola their first loss. This was a great effort from the Patriots on both sides of the ball which was just a setup for events that happened later that night at Fenway Park.

Game 2 of the ALCS feathered the Tigers and Red Sox. With the Tigers stealing game 1 it was imperative that the Red Sox found a way to win this game . Coming back from 0-2 isn’t impossible but it’s very hard especially if those games were played at home . The Tigers pitching staff hasn’t been nothing short but brilliant . They have combined for over 20 strikeouts in two games and last night started the same way. Max Scherzer had a no-no going for five innings. Also they had the bats working as well and generated 5 runs in the process . The Sox rallied in the 8th against the relievers which caused Detroit to bring out their closer Benoit to face Ortiz with the bases loaded and then

The grand salami tied the game and Jarrod hit a walk off single in the bottom of the 9th tying the series 1-1 . Playoff
baseball at its best folks.

Week 6 Preview/ Fantasy Tips

https://i0.wp.com/www.rozayraw.com/sites/rozayraw.wmg-gardens.com/files/201308/rg3.jpg

Each week  I have been highlighting the stories of this year’s NFL season and one story remains the same.  The New York Giants still haven’t won a game.  I won’t continue to criticize the team because at this point it is useless. Instead lets get started with week 6 and the games of the week.   At week six we start to realize which teams look like they will be playing after the season ends.  And after looking at the schedule I have decided which games I will consider the GAMES OF THE WEEK. I only pick three because why waste time on the games that will be essentially boring or even worse blowouts. ( JAX vs Denver)

NOLA vs Patriots – This game features two of the greatest QBs in the game in Brees and Brady.  Nola has one of the most high powered offenses with Brees behind center, they get the job done.  Brees has Graham who is arguably the best TE in the game and a nightmare to opposing defenses.  So you can count on Brees looking to go his way early and often.  Brady a three time champion has found a way to get wins this year.  The team plagued with injuries and off season issues don’t have an all star receiver corp like usual but one piece remains and that is TOM. The team was expected to have Gronk back this week but reports have stated that won’t be the case.  However he will have Amendola who he can count on to make plays and move the chains.  The Saints (5-0) will defeat the Patriots (4-1) today and I say this because of the injury to Wilfork.  He provided defensive pressure on the quarterback and I don’t think Brees will get rushed and the last thing you want to give him is time.

Packers at Ravens – The Packers are 2-2 this year, go figure.  They will travel to Bmore and face a stingy Ravens defense.  Granted the defense isn’t the same anymore with the loss of Ray Lewis and Ed Reed but they are still one of the elite physical teams in the league.  I look to see how they will defend the Packers against the pass because this is no secret, they like to throw.  On the other side of the football , Superbowl MVP Joe Flacco will be at the center of attention.  With a huge extension during the summer, the Ravens turn to him to lead them to victory each week.  Especially because they have not been able to establish the run like they have in previous years.  And if this turns into a shootout with Rodgers the Ravens might have to pass way more then they want to.  I think the Ravens win this game because it will be won on the defensive side, and at home I think they cause turnovers.

Redskins at Cowboys – After watching Romo have arguably the best game of his life and still lose it will be very interesting to see how he bounces back against Washington today.  This is a divisional game which adds drama from the beginning.  Also the Redskins are coming off a bye week so they have had time to prepare for this game.  The Division is very weak this year (Giants) so each win can help these teams at a birth for playoffs.  I am looking to see how RG3 and Morris perform this game. Last year the two were a force to reckon with but not so much this year.  RG3 is recovering from an ACL injury and quite frankly the scouting report is out on Morris who rushed for a 1000 yards last year.  I think the Cowboys win this game, they have a freak of nature at WR in Dez Bryant.  I think Romo has another great game and the Cowboys will score enough points to win.  Neither team has a great defense so expect a lot of offense this game.

FANTASY TIPS FOR WEEK 6

Last week I said to start Blackmon – This week  I am telling you the same.  Yes they are playing the Broncos …..but Garbage points count

Moreno – Moreno is the RB for the team that has Peyton and they are playing Jax – Have him in your lineup has been consistent all year

Sleeper Alert- Hankerson of Redskins – I will keep an eye on him for weeks to come. Granted I am saying this expecting RG3 will start to play like RG3 again.
