Boston Strong

Congratulations to the Boston Red Sox who won the World Series and this year’s MLB championship.  I know I am a little late, guess its the Yankee fan in me.  The young pitching sensation Michael Wacha took the mound for the Cardinals who was undefeated this post season.  Well that definitely changed as the rookie only lasted 3 innings before getting pulled.  The Red Sox scored runs early and solidified the chip by the 5th inning.  Ortiz batted over .700 during the series which is absolutely ridiculous.  So if your an Sox fan congrats and kudos to you, for the rest of us as they say “Always Next Year”.

World Series knows Drama

Where do I begin? I told myself I wouldn’t watch this year’s World Series. One I’m a Yankee fan and they aren’t playing so naturally I’m just not interested.  On top of that the enemy (Boston) is playing which makes my situation worse.  However, this World Series has been nothing but entertaining.  After splitting the first two games in Boston giving St. Louis home field, both home games for the Cards have ended in dramatic fashion. As seen above Game 3 ended with an obstruction call, causing the runner on third to come home safely regardless of the throw that beat him there.  Now do I agree with the call, absolutely but it is definitely a terrible way to lose a game. But it probably isn’t worse then this

With a runner on and Carlos Beltran at the plate pinch runner Wong gets picked off at first to end the game.  I can’t make this stuff up folks.  Earlier this month I wrote a article titled “Greatest Game” and this is exactly why.  The game is so unpredictable and something different can happen at any given moment.  When was the last time you’ve seen a World Series end on these notes in consecutive games.  We are witnessing two great ball clubs give it all they have and it has been a beautiful thing to watch.

For the most part no team has distinguished themselves as the better team, and apparently playing at home doesn’t help either.  With the series tied and the last game to be played in St.Louis tonight it is a must win for the Cardinals.  Either way the series will end in Boston with a shot at the title in game 6.  Tonight will be  a rematch of game 1 with Wainwright (Cards) vs Lester (Sox).  In the last outing the Red Sox lit Adam up, so expect him to have his best stuff.

Cardinals Advance To World Series

With a brilliant performance from rookie 22 year old pitcher Michael Wacha the Cardinals advance to the World Series.  Michael won  NLCS MVP honors and in the closeout game gave up two hits in seven innings.   I give the Cardinals credit, I had them losing this series and you have to tip your hat off to them.  Their pitching has been solid and Carlos Beltran is becoming Mr. Clutch himself.  The Cardinals were facing Kershaw who is far from a scrub but no one saw him giving up so many runs.  He was forced to leave the game giving up seven runs on ten hits by the fifth inning.  And from there you could tell the Dodgers had already submitted to defeat. After 9 innings the Cardinals shut out the dodgers winning 9-0.  The Cardinals will await the winner of the Detroit and Boston series where the Sox are up 3-2 and playing tonight in Fenway Park.  The Tigers like the Dodgers will have their ace Scherzer (2-0, 2.25 ERA) on the mound, in an elimination game.  This postseason has been great and it will be an greater World Series. So congratulations to the Cardinals for advancing, it looks like they haven’t missed a step with the loss of Albert after all.

NLCS: Game 3

20131014-171422.jpg

Game 3 of the NLCS is tonight . The Dodgers who I predicted to win this series and advance are currently down 0-2 . To add insult to injury they will be facing Wainwright who is without a doubt the ace of the Cardinals. Adam is 2-0 and has a 1.13 ERA. The Dodgers send Ryu to the mound who didn’t have a great outing last time he pitched. Also, the Dodgers aren’t sure if they will have Ramirez in the lineup who is the best hitter and can have a huge impact on the game. Puig who has made a couple of plays defensively hasn’t been that much of a factor so far . Hopefully for the Dodgers they can find a way to manufacture some runs. Because if not they will be looking at a 3-0 deficit. As I’ve said before it’s not impossible but highly unlikely to comeback.
